Marking (2017)

Critiquing the white cube space of a gallery, Marking addresses the system of the commercial art world in context to marginalized artists who adhere to this specific structure. This installation was created as a three part viewing experience. The first part was a live performance that created the space through body slamming and painting through the body. The second part was the space as it was left after the performance with documentation of the performance placed on old televisions as an installation that was open for view for five days before the space returned back to its original white cube aesthetic. The space empty of any physical weight or markings was then open for the final portion of the project for another five days for the public to visit the white cube before the piece reached its conclusion.
