 <JADED> Spring 2022 Programming

Organized by Lena Chen, Anny Chen, Caroline Yoo

<JADED> is the inaugural public programming series celebrating the art and culture of the Eastern Asian American community in Pittsburgh, PA. Organized by a collective of AAPI artists and organizers, also named JADED, comprised of Lena Chen, Anny Chen, and Caroline Yoo, this series builds interethnic coalitions to create safe spaces of kinship and addresses racial trauma while celebrating cultural heritage. Programming and intimate events aim to reanimate local histories, preserve cherished family recipes/customs and nurture intergenerational dialogue. All of our events were free and a huge goal of ours was to make sure we were paying everyone who worked with us a competitive rate for the labor they provided.

We partnered with multiple organizations across Pittsburgh such as: Office of Public Art, Organization of Chinese Americans Pittsburgh, Carnegie Museum of Art, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, The Frank-Ratchye Studio for Creative Inquiry, & The Opportunity Fund
